Defend the Utah National Guard

During the last term of President Biden's Administration, we saw the Federal Government under Biden attempt to activate the Texas National Guard to prevent the mass illegal immigration of thousands of migrants attempting to cross the border illegally. This overreach by the Biden Administration led to the state of Texas passing a law preventing the federal government from activating Texas National guard without concurrence from the State of Texas and without declaration of war by the U.S. Congress.

We are proposing to introduce a bill in the State of Utah that would effectively provide the same assurance - that our National Guard is not activated without the concurrence of our Governor and without a declaration of war from the U.S. Congress. Utahns do not want another Presidential Administration making decisions that would directly put Utahns in harm or exhaust resources at a rate that is not sustainable by letting thousands of immigrants into our communities.

Let it be known, the IAP, and Robert Newcomb love and support our immigrant friends. However, we do not believe our current Governor Cox has Utahn's best interest in mind when he has let so many immigrants into Utah that are not vetted or have not gone through proper DHS procedures to gain citizenship. While we support legal immigration, the type of illegal immigration Governor Cox and his supports endorse (but lie about) are not sustainable and is not in the best interest of the majority of Utahns.

Unfortunately, the federal government has incentivized sanctuary cities in the United States with grants and federal dollars that it is difficult for some politicians to say no to the money as they then can turn and line the pockets of their friends with it. There is substantial evidence that federal dollars are being used to incentivize governors/mayors to do this and there is evidence that shows Governor Cox allowing his families company (CentraCom) to benefit off of Cox's tenure as governor - this is both inappropriate and a clear ethical conflict of interest.

Robert Newcomb is currently working with Senator Calvin Mussleman (9th District) to move forward a bill that would put legal measures in place to prevent Utah's National Guard from being activated without a declaration of war from the U.S. Congress and direct permissions from our elected officials.
